Leadership Team

Ian Dickinson

CEO

Ian Dickinson brings over 20 years of executive leadership experience, including serving as CEO for both private and public companies in the energy industry over the past 8 years. Prior to that, Ian held various senior leadership roles across a diverse set of industries and companies, ranging from Fortune 500 firms, to smaller venture capital backed businesses.

Greg Rieker

Co-Founder and CTO

Greg led the proof of concept research underlying LongPath Technologies during his time at NIST. He joined the professorship at CU Boulder in 2013, and won ARPA-e funding to move the technology concept to market. Greg has led the technological development efforts since, transitioning to LongPath CEO in 2019, and CTO in 2021.

Caroline Alden

Co-Founder and VP of Product and Markets

Caroline leads LongPath’s product and market development. Caroline earned her doctorate in Geology, worked with the NOAA carbon cycle group on greenhouse gas flux algorithms, and was a fellow at Stanford before joining the atmospheric science research and development efforts at CU Boulder that led to the founding of LongPath Technologies in 2017.

Robert Wright

Co-Founder and VP Engineering

Robbie leads LongPath’s engineering team, including financial modeling for technical projects. He earned his B.S./M.S. in optical engineering from the Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester before coming to CU Boulder in 2015 to build and help deploy the world’s first mobile dual frequency comb spectrometer. Robbie has been with LongPath Technologies since its founding in 2017.

Sean Coburn

Co-Founder and R&D Manager

Sean leads LongPath's scientific research and development efforts. Sean earned his doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Colorado Boulder while working on projects involving the development and field deployment of research instrumentation. He joined the initial research team in 2015 and  has been with LongPath Technologies since its founding in 2017.

Philip Richard

Director of Customer Operations

Philip leads LongPath's customer engagements. He has over 7 years experience as a Production Engineer working for both public and private E&P Companies. Philip has worked in multiple basins in both field and office Production Engineering roles handling responsibilities from field supervision, facility optimization, and project management. Philip earned his B.S in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M and is an MBA candidate at Indiana University's Kelly School of Business.

Kyle Waldschmidt

Director of Finance and Corporate Controller

Kyle Waldschmidt brings over 10 years of experience as a financial executive. He leads LongPath’s accounting and finance team. He earned his Bachelor of Science with emphasis in Accounting from the University of Northern Colorado. He began his career in public accounting where he specialized in financial reporting for oil and gas, manufacturing, and nonprofit organizations. After exiting public accounting, Kyle has held various executive roles for privately held companies in manufacturing, oil and gas, and technology.

Phil Bissell

Deployment Engineer

Phil manages system deployment to the oilfield. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado in 2021 as well as a B.S. in Natural Resources Management from Colorado State University in 2009. He has over 10 years experience deploying complex systems, including the NSF’s National Ecological Observatory Network, critical real-time monitoring systems for the Bureau of Reclamation’s Safety of Dams program, and remote data collection systems for the USDA Forest Service. Phil joined LongPath Technologies in June 2020.

Bob Gill

Bob has been the CEO or executive chairman of multiple software and systems solutions companies and turn-around situations with a record of achieving strong shareholder value. He has 30+ years of experience in general management, sales and marketing, operations and engineering for high-technology corporations and has successfully completed several acquisitions and divestitures.

R. C. Mercure

R.C. Mercure, Jr. has 57 years of experience in high-technology management and investing. In 1956 he and others founded Ball Brothers Research Corp., now Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corp. Later he held positions as Group Vice President Technical Products and Vice President Business Development. He retired from Ball in 1980.

Education: MBA from Rice and Stanford.
Prior employers: McKinsey, KKR and Apollo.

James F. Adelson

Jim Adelson currently serves as President and Managing Member of Nadel and Gussman, LLC and its various energy affiliates. Jim received a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University in 1985 with a degree in Economics. Jim joined Nadel and Gussman in June of 1986.

Jim is a member of World President’s Organization, Chief Executives Organization and currently serves on the University of Tulsa Board, Cornell Lab of Ornithology Board, the Cornell University Arts & Sciences Advisory Council and the Tulsa Community Foundation.
